See the shade Pantone announced as the 2015 color of the year.  Pantone just named “Marsala,” a warm reddish-brown hue named after the wine (not the chicken dish), as the color of the year for 2015.

Clothes and accessories in a similar shade will be absolutely everywhere, which, in turn, just means you won’t have to order a vodka-soda cause you’re worried about spilling your glass of wine.

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said in a press release the color will bring people back to their roots: “Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.”

According to the company’s spring fashion report, designers like Daniel Silverstain, Herve Leger by Max Azria, and Dennis Basso showcased Marsala in their spring 2015 collections. Pantone recommends pairing the color with neutrals like warm taupes and grays, or brights like yellows and greens.

Choosing a more neutral tone is a departure for Pantone, which has opted for brighter shades recently. (The past few shades of the year have had names like Radiant Orchid, Emerald, Tangerine Tango, and Honeysuckle.) Yet next year’s bold pick already has one fashionable person in its corner: Olivia Pope.
